David Brainerd (1718–1747) is one of the greatest missionaries America has ever had. Brainerd began his life of ministry at the young age of twenty-four. His passion was to convert the Native Americans scattered throughout New York and Pennsylvania. He traveled more than three thousand miles on horseback, preaching the gospel faithfully until he died at the age of twenty-nine after a lengthy sickness brought on by his constant exposure to harsh winter conditions. Jonathan Edwards published
An Account of the Life of the Late Rev. David Brainerd, chiefly taken from Brainerd’s own
Diary and Other Private Writings, which has become a missionary classic.
