Resurgence roundup, 4/5/13
Sail through the flood of information with our weekly Resurgence Roundups. Each Friday, we will share a list of articles across ministry tribes that our team has found helpful with the hope of serving you well.
“God raised your great shepherd from the dead,” by John Piper
We here at Resurgence are indebted to the life and ministry of John Piper. This past weekend, he preached this, his farewell sermon before stepping down as the preaching pastor at Bethlehem Baptist, capping off a monumental 32 years and nine months in the pulpit.
We pray that the work and influence God has permitted Dr. Piper to have will continue to reach generations to come with this simple refrain of his: “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him.”
“8 diagnostic questions for a church’s health,” by Chuck Lawless
Is your church’s teaching based on the Bible? Are you a praying church? Is your church reaching non-believers? This is a great series of questions for church leaders to use when examining their church.
“My Sunday at an atheistic church,” by Kyle Beshears
Even though an atheist church service sounds like a mixture of oil and water, Kyle Beshears attended one in London and shares some of his surprising observations.
The Gospel of John, by The White Horse Inn
This 12-week series on the Gospel of John is filled with great theological content that is deeply practical, pastoral, and doxological. Topics range on everything from the Jesus’ “bread of life” statement, to his triumphal entry, to the High Priestly Prayer.
“Jesus is loving Barabbas — a Judah Smith Sermon Jam”
