Mainstream Media Reacts to “The Water & The Blood”

Mark Driscoll » Worship Music Culture

Today marks week one of The Water & The Blood, Dustin Kensrue’s debut worship album. The response has been overwhelmingly positive—over 80 reviews on iTunes already, with an average rating of five stars.

In particular, I’ve enjoyed reading the reaction from mainstream press. Pastor Dustin attracts broad attention, thanks to the success of Thrice. Here are some of my favorite quips so far:

  • “We are pretty damn excited for The Water and The Blood…” –Under the Gun Review
  • “…you can expect the album to be heavy with religious themes and references. But that should not deter you from enjoying Kensrue’s unique and solid songwriting and music craftsmanship.”  –The 1st Five
  • “You also can’t help but notice the unfettered passion he exudes throughout the album—it’s good to see the guy happy. But you can’t hold the subject matter against him, no matter your beliefs…if this is what church sounds like these days, Kensrue could beckon a whole new audience to his services.” –Alternative Press

To hear the album for yourself, pick it up anywhere music is sold or head to marshill.com/music for free streaming, chord charts, videos, and more.
