Rick Warren’s Prayerful Interruption
When the Holy Spirit moves, plans gotta change.
Pastors Mark Driscoll and Rick Warren were originally scheduled to sit down and talk after Pastor Warren finished sharing his message at the 2013 Resurgence Conference. However, the Lord had a different plan in mind.
At the conclusion of his sermon, Pastor Rick Warren led the participants of R13 in prayer at all five locations and online. Moved by this example of fatherly leadership, Pastor Mark invited everyone to continue in prayer for one another. Men and women all around the world joined the pastors in kneeling to surrender their life to the call of God and to live for his glory and fame.
Read Pastor Rick’s prayer below.
A prayer for the glory of God
In case you missed this time, below is a transcript of Pastor Rick’s prayer. We encourage you to not only read through this prayer, but to pray it yourself.
Dear God,
I want you to use me. Anytime. Anywhere. Anyway. Anyhow.
Use me by your grace. Fill me with your Spirit. Give me your vision for my life.
Protect me from these traps. I want to live a life of integrity. I want to live a life of humility. I want to live a life of generosity. But most of all, I want to learn to trust you completely.
I want to have a radical faith. I want to expect great things from you and attempt great things for you, for the global glory of God. Give me your dream for my life.
Help me to be willing to risk failure and to not be afraid of it. Help me to trust in your grace. I want to expect you to use me, and I want to ask you to help me to never give up.
So I surrender myself to you, that a revival and a resurgence would happen in my heart.
Father, I thank you for these who just prayed this prayer. I know that you can send a revival, a reformation, a restoration, a renewal, a resurgence that all of the forces of hell couldn’t stop.
Use me by your grace. Fill me with your Spirit. Give me your vision for my life.
Lord I pray a blessing on every church represented here today. I pray that you would make their lives an embarrassment to the devil. I pray that you will make their churches an embarrassment to the devil. And I pray that when the devil thinks of their churches, he says, “Oh, no. Not those people. They believe God. They trust God."
Help us to keep our lives clean. Help us to keep our lives pure. Help us to live with integrity, humility, generosity, and faith.
God, most of these here today are younger than me. I pray a blessing on them. Father, I pray that they will make it in the long-haul of ministry. That they won’t flame out in a year, five years, or twenty years, but that their ministry will go forty years.
Help us to never compare with each other. Help us to never stop learning. And help us to never give up.
I pray for every marriage here today. Father, some people need to go home and confess being unloving to their wife or husband. May there be renewal in marriages and in families.
God, speak to us about what needs changing, and give us the courage and humility to make those changes.
Help us to live with integrity, humility, generosity, and faith.
Father, as I look out upon the faces of these men and these women that love you, I love them, Lord. I love them. I ask that you do in their lives an amazing thing. I ask that you bless them the way that you’ve blessed my life. I ask that you give them a double portion of your Holy Spirit, and that you would send a revival that would amaze all of us and that would change the cultural climate of this nation and even the world.
Help us to stop fighting with each other and criticizing each other, and to start praying for each other and loving each other. May the world say, “Boy, see how they love one another.”
Thank you for Mark, and Grace, and this church. I thank you for all of the campus pastors, for the staff, and for all those who helped make this conference go. I pray that this would continue to have an impact in lives, not just for those here now, but for eternity.
Bless every man and woman here physically, bless them spiritually, and bless them financially so that they don’t have to worry about their bills. Bless them in their emotions and in their relationships, so that we may bring glory to you in Jesus.
And I pray this blessing in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
And everybody said, “Amen.”
