We’re Praying for Traders Point
One of the things we like to do at Resurgence is both equip and encourage pastors and leaders in various churches. This week I am glad to introduce you to Pastor Aaron Brockett and Traders Point Christian Church.
In recent years, Grace and I have had the honor of teaching at churches around the country for the Real Marriage tour. We've been very encouraged by meeting so many wonderful people and enjoying so many wonderful churches.
One of these churches is Traders Point Christian Church in Indianapolis. The rumor I had repeatedly heard about the church was that it was a solid older church with a gifted young Bible teacher, Pastor Aaron Brockett. To see what God is doing at that church and through his preaching and leadership was a great joy. Before flying out, I got a chance to squeeze in some time with their leaders, who are seeking to best care for the people in their growing church.
Traders Point has a long history of preaching Jesus in Indianapolis
Late last year I was back in Indianapolis for the sold-out Act Like Men event for 12,000 men. It was unbelievable, and from my vantage point, Jesus is up to something in Indianapolis.
The faithful history of Traders Point
Traders Point Christian Church has a long and faithful history dating back to 1834. The church was originally established with 10 members meeting in homes, until a log cabin church was built in an area that is located northwest of today’s downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. By the grace of God the church has weathered many hardships, as families struggled through the Civil War, both World Wars, and even the Great Depression.
“With a legacy of exceptional leaders,” says Erica Garcia, the communications director of Traders Point, “and a strong emphasis on Scripture, baptism, membership, and service, the church has seen exponential growth in the last six years and reaches a wide variety of audiences.”

This growth hasn’t occurred through church transfers, but rather by people turning to faith in Jesus Christ. Just this past year alone, God gave them the privilege of baptizing 429 people.
“The stories of transformation church leaders are hearing are remarkable and serve as an inspiration and a reminder of the redemptive work of Christ. It truly is a movement of God happening here in Indianapolis,” continues Garcia.

Today, many of these people in Indianapolis would not have heard the gospel for the first time if it were not for the faithfulness of those in the past. “Traders Point has a rich . . . history of taking risks for the kingdom and trusting Jesus during times when the future isn’t always clear,” says Garcia.
Jesus is at work in Indianapolis
The lives we live today will leave a legacy into the future. All of us can learn from the faithful example set by Traders Point and be those who, by power of the Holy Spirit, do not “shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls” (Heb. 10:39).
Join us in prayer for Traders Point
Traders Point’s mission is to “engage people with the love of God, inspire them to follow Jesus, and equip them to serve our world.” This mission is based upon Jesus’ words in Matthew 28:18–20. Traders Point asked that we would be in prayer for them in the following ways:
- “Pray for our city of Indianapolis, Indiana, for the name of Jesus to be magnified and for lives to be changed by him.”
- “Pray for us, that as we set out on a big mission for Christ we are able to leverage the gospel in the best possible way and engage people with the love of God, inspire them to follow Jesus, and equip them to serve our world.”
- “Pray for our staff, our elders, and our ministry leaders who are stepping up and making big commitments to be ‘all in’ for the mission and the vision God has given us.”
- “Pray that we will stay humble and hungry for Jesus.”
