Easter is the greatest celebration every year for Christians.

On Easter we celebrate the risen Savior who conquered Satan, sin, and death. But the weekend doesn’t begin with rejoicing. It first travels through mourning.

A dark Friday, a glorious Sunday

Our salvation cost God dearly, and the price he paid is costly. Good Friday is a day when we recall the violence, the scandal, and the incredible price God himself paid to bring us—his wayward children—home by laying down his life and dying in our place, for our sin.

Death, however, never gets the final word with Jesus.

On Easter we celebrate the risen Savior who conquered Satan, sin, and death.

On the third day, Jesus rose, alive and victorious over death itself. Through the life he lived and the death he died, we are made right with God through faith and given a new life. In the words of the Apostle Paul, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Cor. 5:17).
